Jonathan Hörst Sends God’s Own Stone (5.14a) at 10 Years Old
Watch a 10-year-old Jonathan Hörst send God’s Own Stone (5.14a) in Kentucky's Red River Gorge.
According to Climbing magazine's report on the ascent, he clipped the chains on March 9, 2013, at 10 years and 7 months old. That made him technically the youngest climber to send the grade at the time.
He worked the route twice one day, then returned the next day and sent it on his fourth try. His older brother, Cameron, had climbed God's Own Stone about a year earlier at age 11, and his beta helped.
The confidence and power of such a young climber is incredible to see.
